ABOUT THE ARTIST
Maira holds a BA in Illustration, a certificate in Art Fundamentals and a Diploma as a Paralegal.
Maira has a passion for illustration, design, law, justice, and social change. She has loved art, detective, and true crime stories since she was a young child. Her attachment to mystery led her to take a course in criminology and courses in psychology while she studied art. Those courses struck a chord in her, prompting her to seek to further her education on the subject of justice. She eventually decided to pursue a career in the legal field where she felt she would be empowered in her pursuits to make a difference.
As an artist, Maira creates digital and traditional illustrations, graphic designs, and paintings. She has had the pleasure of working with many different creative clients, providing custom designs and commissions. Aside from that, she has also had the pleasure of teaching art to people of varying ages and abilities.
While in school Maira took a special interest in Human Rights, Employment Rights, Summary Convictions, and Immigration law. She took an internship working in Employment law and found she had a passion for it. Maira particularly enjoys conducting legal research, linking outcomes of preceding cases to new ones. She likes to examine how the law has been interpreted in the past and how those interpretations will serve in the present. Maira is a licensed Paralegal within the Province of Ontario, though she is currently not providing legal services.
